Wellington Hotel New York is all about location! It is just a couple of yards from Carnegie Hall, half block to the Russian Tea Room, 1 block to Central Park, half block to David Letterman's theatre, and a quite inexpensive taxi drive to wherever you need to go on Broadway. In case you have more money than sense you can go to the boutiques on 57th, including Bergdorf-Goodman, Tiffany's and the like. We opted for single bedroom suite at the rear of the hotel, which in fact had absolutely no view, but given it has been off-street, was a smart trade-off. It was really silent, with a lovely marble bath, super water pressure, a clean, calm suite with bedroom, living room, and kitchenette with refrigerator, sink, and microwave oven. Door man and concierge desk had been helpful with road directions as well as tips. Heating system was a little loud, although this is the case in most of these old buildings. Wi-fi was ideal. Bistro in the hotel is used by everyone in the location so it's typically rather busy with line-ups. Step out of the hotel for only two blocks or so and you will probably come across coffee/sandwich shops lower priced ın comparison to the cafe in the hotel. (It is good advice wherever you are staying in New York!). The Wellington diner is a darkish, greek fashion, traditional affair with velvet chairs, from the main entrance hall. This hotel could be difficult for the handicapped, because there are alcoves and secreted hallways with half floors. Steps going up or down practically all around the hotel. The cafe and also the bistro are actually pricy, and so are capitalizing on the tourists. Practically, across the street, a couple of feet away from hotel is a Subway, a number of street vendors, and also a Starbucks down the street, all of which were doing a quick money from the several hotel clients in the region. The hotel even had a beauty salon, well stocked tuck shop, room service menu, as well as a Tv set in the bedroom and the lounge room. There was fast response from the desk should you have had problems or difficulties with heating up or house cleaning problems. A lot of house cleaning workers in New York hotels really don't speak English, thus do not be expecting too much. Strangely there is a coffeemaker in the kitchen, however the receptionist explained they no more give coffee.. In general, an ideal choice for this region. We would most likely stop at the Wellington Hotel everytime I get back to New York, simply because of the price and location.
